Carers Reference Group
The Carers Reference Group is a welcoming space where unpaid and informal carers—along with former carers and professionals—come together to share their experiences and shape local services in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole.
The group speaks up for carers, including those who receive Carer’s Allowance, by highlighting what matters most to them and the challenges they face. They meet monthly to:
- share experiences of being a carer
- review and give feedback on local services
- influence how support for carers is planned, funded, and delivered
- help social care teams improve how they support carers
Group members have helped shape real changes—like improving hospital discharge processes, taking part in recruitment interviews, and helping design support services. You can be involved as much or as little as you like, depending on your time and caring responsibilities.
To get involved, please call 01202 128 787 or email carersupport@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.
